Connecting with Nature

As the days get longer and the nights shorter, there’s a lot more opportunities to spend time outside. Days at the swimming pool. Picnics and barbecues with friends. Late night strolls, ogling the sky as the sun sets. This time of year is the perfect excuse to connect more with nature.

It’s wild (pun intended) to think about how we wouldn’t exist in this world without every element of nature. And yet over time, we as humans have done a shockingly thorough job separating ourselves from that very life-force.

Buildings, cars, air conditioning… everything we could possibly need exists inside. Maybe we think we’re doing ourselves a great service by adding a few windows to our dwellings, but let’s call it what it is - modern day conveniences rob us of our innate need to connect with Mother Earth.

Ask yourself - when was the last time you sat outside in the grass? When was the last time you sat outside and just closed your eyes for a few minutes to feel each of your senses waking up? Try it this week. Relish the warm sun on your cheeks. Hear the birds singing. Feel the grounded earth underneath you.

Maybe you’re an “outdoorsy person,” or maybe you’re not. Either way, I strongly encourage you to get outside this week, if even for just a few minutes a day. I promise you, you’ll feel so much more rejuvenated.

To take it further, the Journal Jolts theme this week is all about reconnecting with nature. Each day’s journaling prompt will help you explore your relationship with Mother Earth, and recognize how you relate to the natural world around you.

AND, exciting news! I was so jazzed by this topic, I even created a whole Journaling Journey around it! It’s only available to premium members, so if you haven’t already, sign up here (only $3 a month)

Now, get out there and enjoy nature!
