Just Right
When Goldilocks laid down on Mama Bear’s bed and proclaimed it “just right!” do you think that bed actually was just right? Personally, I highly doubt it. I’m sure any bed used by a cave mammal is full of lumps and bumps from her giant cave mammal body tossing and turning through the night. Of course, her comforter is likely unintentionally shredded from her sharp claws. Not to mention - hello, they live in the middle of the woods. I mean, do they even have a washing machine??
And yet, the bed was “just right” for Goldilocks. Perhaps the lumps made it soft enough, while the tattered blankets made it firm enough. Something in the total formula made it the perfect place for a nap.
Now, imagine this bed is you. Maybe you look in the mirror in the morning and see all your lumps, bumps, and scratches. We all do it. But have you ever considered that every piece of you - from the things you love to the things you don’t love so much, are all part of the necessary formula that makes you “just right.”
It’s not about being perfect. We all know that. And so we put our emphasis on bettering ourselves.
But what if the secret to life is even simpler than that? Have you ever considered that you’re already “just right” exactly the way that you are?
Really sit with that this week. Use your journal as a chance to acknowledge and honoring yourself for being “just right,” not despite all of your flaws and quirks, but because of them.
